Martin Paul Schwalger was the youngest son of Wilhelm Karl Schwalger and Silafaga Lauano. He married Saipisa Vaita Nakiso of Fagatogo, American Samoa on
Martin also had two children from a relationship with Luisa of Leauva'a prior to marrying Saipisa: a girl named Pauna and a son named Tele'a, both still living. While Martin was still married to Saipisa he had an illegitimate son named Sauao. He is one year younger than Robert.
Martin died at the young age of 49 (26 February, 1954).
